EKG I Course

The EKG I course is targeted towards junior Emergency Medicine learners. It reviews fundamental skills in EKG interpretation and can’t miss EKG diagnoses. The course is divided into 24 sessions organized by 6 units of core content review and associated challenge EKGs. This may be implemented longitudinally with 24 sessions each requiring 15-20 min of classroom time OR workshop-style by unit hosted in 6 hour-long meetings. Your Site Director will provide specific details for your site. If your site does not adopt EKG I but you’d like to follow along on your own, contact the EKG Course Director to be added to an email list for weekly EKG Answers.

This course also uses a flipped classroom approach, in which learners are expected to review content summaries and challenge EKGs prior to each EKG I Course Meeting. During meetings, your instructor will review interpretation of each EKG and general management based on the diagnosis. After each meeting your Site Director should send you the Challenge EKG Answer sheets- these will include answers but also embedded links to high-yield FOAMed EKG resources for more in-depth study on specific learning topics.
